Laws surrounding who can give advice on SMSF, super contributions, salary sacrifice and pensions changed for all accountants from 1 July 2016. Prior to this, as accountants we were able to provide much of this advice under our tax agent registration. It was called the accountants exemption. This exemption has now been removed and we must now hold an AFSL license or be an authorized representative under an AFSL license.
As a result of the additional compliance work, professional development requirements, software and membership costs that now surrounds this area of advice, we have no choice but to institute a separate fee structure and billing procedure for this type of work. We apologize if this does cause inconvenience to you but feel confident that we can now provide an even better service in this area than in the past.
Are you an employee and want to save tax and max your super contributions without too much impact on your take home pay? We can help with this. For existing clients’, we now provide this service annually for a fixed fee of $220 per person per annum. For new clients that we do not do tax work for, the annual fee is $330.
Are you a business person and want to know the optimum super contributions per year? Previously, we have provided this advice during year-end tax planning meetings. In future, due to significant changes in licensing regulations from 1 July 2016, this will now attract an additional fee of $220 per annum.
